1. What does working as an environmental scientist mean to you?
Contributing as an environmental scientist means everything to me. I have always aspired to do something that will help the environment. Even though I am but one person, I believe that every little bit counts. And I want to do my bit.
2. As an environmental scientist, what duties have you performed in the past?
While working as an environmental scientist, I have been involved in many tasks such as deciding on the best data collection methods and performing data collection, conducting field surveys, conducting lab tests, identifying data in order to determine contamination, and working with lab personnel to determine sample density. In addition, I have been busy analyzing samples and providing feedback on measures that can be taken.
3. Tell us a little about your skills in this field.
I am a perfectionist, which means that my data-collection methods are always spot on. Additionally, I am well-versed in developing and implementing plans to prevent and control environmental problems and can provide suggestions for fixing them as well. Also, I am competent in preparing technical reports and presentations for the management to work on.
4. What do you feel is most difficult about this work?
I don’t dwell on difficulties. I find the work challenging on many levels. But then environmental sciences is all about challenges anyway.
5. Tell us about one of your accomplishments.
I have many accomplishments to my name, owing to my tremendous contribution to this work. My most recent one is determining a huge amount of arsenic in a town water supply that the authorities were unaware of. This led me to create awareness of the matter, and get the authorities to look for alternative drinking water solutions for residents.
6. What are your future plans?
I am hoping to work on a larger scale than I am right now. I am moving towards specializing in environmental studies.
