Why did you choose to work as a cart associate?
I have worked in this capacity during my high school days, and have figured this work to be right down my alley, as I am just beginning my career in retail. I believe that working in this capacity will help me get acquainted with the retail world on the whole.

How do you feel about working in a position which requires you to be on your feet most of the day?
I am an energetic individual, who has no qualms about working in a position that requires physical work. In fact, I enjoy being on my feet, as it keeps me active.

What duties have you performed in the role of a cart associate in your school days?
While working as a part time cart attendant while I was in high school, I was responsible for a number of duties such as retrieving carts from parking areas, ensuring that all customers had access to carts and hand baskets, ensuring that heavy carts were transported to customers’ cars, cleaning and maintaining carts, and identifying problems and issues with carts, and communicating them to the supervisor.

Were you also required to perform work other than what was associated with carts?
Oh yes. I was also expected to assist customers in locating products, if a sales associate was not present. In addition to this, I was responsible for assisting with bagging purchases, and handling stocking duties as well.

What part of the retail world do you like the best, as far as work is concerned?
I have recently stepped into the retail world, and I am still exploring the many aspects that it presents. At the moment, I cannot identify one area that I like the most, as I enjoy working in most capacities that I have been exposed to.

Tell us of an incident that transpired, which made you realize that working in a retail environment is no bed of roses.
Disgruntled and dissatisfied customers are all in a day’s work when one is part of the retail world. There was once a customer who had a go at me, simply because I reached his car before he did. Since I was pushing his cart, which was full of purchases, I had to build a momentum, which got me to his car quicker than he was able to reach it. He yelled and cursed, because he found it insulting.
