Why do so many employers insist that the people they hire should be highly skilled in their relevant areas?
Why can’t they train them to be skilled?
Now, this is an extremely selfish way of thinking!
Why would you want an employer to train you and pay you for it?
While paid training is prevalent in some companies, it is hardly fair for you to expect to go in absolutely raw and acquire training.
Employers provide you with an opportunity to work in the position you want to and provide you with remuneration for your services. The least that you can do is apply for a job only when you know that you can do it. And this is where skills come in.
Some skills are needed no matter where you work – communication abilities, people skills, and organization are just some of them.
Other skills that you will need to perform a Patient Access Representative job properly are usually job-related.
This means that you must be qualified in at least 8 areas out of 10 for the particular job that you are applying for so that a hiring manager can place you amongst the few who will be called in for an interview.

• Highly skilled in collecting and accurately entering demographic, clinical, billing, and insurance information in the predefined hospital or facility databases.
• Unmatched ability to explain processes and forms to patients prior to obtaining signatures and determining and accepting/recording payments such as deductibles and co-pays.
