Teachers have a lot of responsibilities, and to add one more, they are often required to write recommendation letters for their students.
As a teacher, you need to remember one thing. You do not have to write a recommendation letter if you do not deem it right.
If you are not sure that a student deserves a recommendation, there is no need to make promises. However, if a student who you think deserves your recommendation asks for one, you must make a special effort to help him or her out.
Recommendation letters are easy to write if you know the academic achievements of the student for whom you are writing one. Find out what the recommendation letter is going to be used for, and then write accordingly.
A letter of recommendation for a scholarship position might be a little different than one in which you are recommending a student for a job.
In such a situation, you have to write why you believe that a certain student is deserving of a scholarship, and for what purpose he or she will use the degree or diploma for which a scholarship is required.
Since recommendation letters are never negative in nature, you must completely ignore a student’s limitations. Write only positive things about him or her.
