As an employer, you are the best judge of how well-suited an employee is for a scholarship.

Apart from other requirements, one is that an applicant for a scholarship program provides a recommendation letter from an employer outlining why he or she is eligible for a scholarship program.

A recommendation letter for a scholarship is not much different from one that you would give to an employee who is leaving the company.

The difference is perhaps in the actual content, which will include specific information regarding the employee’s suitability for a scholarship as opposed to qualifications for a job.

How can you provide a recommendation letter for a scholarship to an employee?

Once you have all the details of the course or degree program that the employee wants to attend and the type of scholarship that he wishes to acquire, you can begin putting your thoughts into place.

How to Write a Great Scholarship Recommendation Letter?
  1. Identify your relationship with the candidate (immediate supervisor or director).
  2. Provide details of the situations in which you observed the individual and his competencies.
  3. Outline the skills and knowledge that you are certain will help him succeed in the course/degree program.

To Whom It May Concern

This letter is a strong recommendation for Ashley Pembroke, who is applying for Charles Wallace Scholarship Program. I supervised her for 3 years while she worked as a Project Officer at Providence Environmental Care. I believe that she deserves this scholarship as it will help her pursue her dream of studying for a degree in Environmental Sciences and Wildlife.

Ashley is one of the most brilliant project officers in our organization. Recently, she reined in freeing the prisoned Bali dolphins through sheer will and her passion for nature conservation. I believe that if she has a higher degree in environmental sciences and wildlife, she will be able to contribute to the well-being of our planet and its ecology.

As a hardworking individual, Ashley has always come out on top. She is fascinated with the smallest of wonders, which shows her strong character, and is extremely easy to get along with. To sum it up, I believe that she is a deserving candidate for the Charles Wallace Scholarship – it will be money well spent.

Please feel free to contact me if you need any further information regarding Ashley’s suitability for the program.

Sincerely,

Matt Peck
