Librarian Assistant Cover Letter Sample

Updated on: December 1, 2017

A cover letter can hardly be written in fifteen minutes flat – actually, it can be written in this little time if you are okay with a mediocre one going out.

However, if you want to write a cover letter that is dressed to impress, you need quite some time. It is not only the writing part that matters.

You also have to research the position, and collect information about the organization where you are applying.

Cover letters are widely read, and based on them, hiring managers make important hiring decisions.

A cover letter that isn’t much to write home about, is not one that is accepted by a hiring manager. First things first – figure out what the hiring manager is looking for in a prospective employee.

As soon as you are aware of this, you will be able to impress the hiring manager, by doing exactly what he wants you to.

Here is a sample cover letter to help you:

Mr. Jeff Young
Human Resource Manager
Town Hall Library
486 Maywood Avenue
San Jose, CA 70020

Dear Mr. Young:

The quiet of a library is a great motivator for me, as opposed to the hub-hub of another work environment. It is within a library setting that I am at my best professionally. Taking this further, I have been working as a librarian assistant for San Jose Public Library for 2 years, and I am now hoping for a similar position at Town Hall Library.

I am not your regular librarian assistant – as someone who is exceptionally talented in not just performing the various tasks that are part of this work, but also activities that may be considered “adjunct”, I am sure that I will be a great credit to Town Hall Library.

In my circle, I am popular for my ability to lead and oversee reading clubs, ensuring a high level of interest in the library’s books and services. Moreover, you will find me to be exceptionally hands-on in handling a wide variety of work, including creating and maintaining indexes and records, and ensuring that proper follow up is performed to obtain overdue books.

Anticipating that a meeting between us will shed more light on what I have to offer to you in this regard, I would like to meet with you in person. I will call you soon to set up a meeting. In the interim, please call me if needed.

Sincerely,

Sharon Baker
