Are you going to appear in an interview for a hotel supervisor position and have no clue about what will be asked?

An interview for a hotel supervisor position might be quite detailed. Since you will eventually be responsible for the reputation of the hotel and business retention, making the interview a hard one to ace makes sense. After all, the hotel will not want to hire just anyone. They will need the best!

In order to be the best, it is imperative that you know beforehand at least some of the questions that you will be asked. 1. What skills do you have that qualify you for a hotel supervisor position at our hotel?

Since I have worked my way up from a front desk officer, I am aware of all the processes that need to be taken into account when ensuring smooth hotel operations. As a hotel supervisor, I am vigilant, customer service-oriented, possess exceptional leadership skills, and can handle even the most unsatisfied and irate guests positively.

2. Tell us of a time when you satisfied a guest even though circumstances were not in your favor.

A couple of years ago, one of my staff members stole a regular guest’s money, while servicing the room. And she admitted to it which made the hotel look bad since this was the first incident of this kind. Not surprisingly, the guest was mad and threatened to sue us and take his business elsewhere. When all else failed, I politely told him that I will personally supervise all the services that he will receive from now on, despite the fact that I would have to work extra hours without pay. But that seemed to satisfy him and we managed to retain his business.

3. What are the front desk duties of a hotel supervisor?

While there are no direct front desk duties of a hotel supervisor, it is important for him or her to ensure that guests check-in and check out and reservations are handled without any problems. It is also a hotel supervisor’s duty to make sure that visitors and guests are greeted properly and helped with directions.

4. Do you think it is important for hotel supervisors to know a foreign language? Why or why not?

Knowing a foreign language is actually beneficial as one can communicate effectively with tourists and see their requirements properly. If there is a language barrier, delivery of good customer services usually becomes a problem.
