If you are applying by answering an advertisement, your cover letter will say different things than when you write one for a position that is not yet available.
Mostly, it is the former situation that prevails, making us write standard cover letters to apply for it.
But standard cover letters do not have to be standardized.
This means that while you are writing a cover letter in the usual way, the content of the document should be anything but standard. In fact, it should be outstanding – something that the hiring manager has not read before.
