1. What duties have you performed in the role of a custodial worker?

As a custodial worker, my duties involve cleaning premises assigned to me, by performing sweeping and mopping activities. In addition to this, I am responsible for dusting furniture and fixtures, polishing woodwork, performing minor repair and maintenance work, and ensuring that trash disposal activities are properly handled.

2. What makes it worth your while to work in this position?

Cleanliness means the world to me. And when I see a job well done in this capacity, the motivation I receive is awesome.

3. What skills does one need in order to work as a custodial worker?

I believe that a custodial worker needs to possess a wide range of skills to be able to work successfully at this position. For starters, it is imperative to know all there is to know about janitorial work. Secondly, physical dexterity and strength are very important, as one needs to do hard labor at times. Knowledge of trash disposal practices is also imperative to possess.

4. Can you recall a time when you were asked to do something that was not part of the job description? What happened?

I was once asked to provide my services in a security capacity, at an event. Since the work was long and arduous and meant that I had to stay much later than usual, I wanted to refuse it initially. But then I thought that it would be a shame to leave the management in the lurch, especially since they had no other backup. So I did as I was asked to.

5. How do you feel about the strenuous work associated with this position?

I have no problems working in such situations. In fact, I enjoy the fact that it is challenging work.

6. What career path do you intend to take from here?

Soon, I intend to head the custodial department, putting all my knowledge, skills, and experience into play.
