No matter what position you are applying for and regardless of the employer’s requirements for a good communicator, your cover letter should be free of all types of mistakes, including syntax errors and grammatical gaffes. Once you have written your cover letter, make sure that it is given a once-over twice before you consider it good enough to be submitted as a job application.
Many times, it is these small things such as grammatical and spelling mistakes that leave a negative impression on the reader, despite the content being relevant. These “small” things are complete turn offs. The trick to writing a good cover letter is to make it “good” from all angles, including the format and the addressing part. Every little thing matters here as employers are constantly looking out for people who pay great attention to detail. If you know that you are a good fit for a position, you should make it obvious to the employer as well so that he doesn’t take you as someone who is ordinary and does not know how to present himself.
Having said that, cover letters are hardly easy to write, even if we are great showoffs in real life! Knowing where to draw the line is perhaps the most difficult cover letter writing job to do. Let us assist you by providing you with a sample cover letter for copy editor resume:

Dear Mr. Creaser:
Playing with words is what I am best at, as you will find out from the pieces of writing that I have enclosed with this letter. However, writing is not my only strength – as an experienced copy editor who has worked with the likes of Pelican Publishers and Oxford Publishing Company over the past 15 years, I am confident that you will find me a great addition to your team.
Perhaps one of my greatest achievements is editing the book written on the 9/11 tragedy (The Fallen Empire by Edward Hose), which sold over 5 million copies worldwide! Following closely was the advertising campaign that I performed copy editing for, to ensure that the book reached this many readers. As a meticulous individual who has a greatly organized mind and can easily and aptly research facts and figures through appropriate research channels, you will find me thorough and well-organized in every aspect.
Confident that my skills and experience meet your requirements, I would welcome a chance to meet with you in person to discuss my suitability to work as a copy editor at BCS Inc. I can be contacted at (000) 999-9999 if you need to reach me before I get a chance to contact you for an interview.
