• Direct customers to the right aisles, or assist them in looking for their choice of products.
• Provide information regarding prices and promotions, aiming to create and maintain customers’ interest in purchasing convenience store products.
• Scan customer purchases to determine prices, and punch in purchases into the cash register.
• Accept and process both cash and credit card payments, and ensure that receipts and change are issued.
• Bag customers’ purchases, and assist them in transporting them to their cars.
• Balance the cash register at the end of each shift, ensuring that any discrepancies are managed in an immediate fashion.
• Prepare bank deposits, and arrange for cash to be deposited into the bank after the shift has ended.
• Arrange for change (coins and small notes) at the beginning of the shift, by creating and maintaining effective liaison with bank personnel.
• Oversee and maintain product inventory, ensuring that any low stock situations are communicated to the store manager.
