1. What duties have you performed in the role of a program assistant in the past?
As a program assistant, I have been involved in providing project, communication, and administrative support to assigned projects, handling information management work, and playing a lead role in managing fund obtainment activities.
2. What has been your major accomplishment in a program assistant role in the past?
In 2014, I was able to acquire the entire funding for a project, all through extensive fund development and outreach activities. This is by far my biggest accomplishment as it is rare for one individual to be able to obtain grants for a project that is so vast!
3. In your opinion, what specific skills does one need to be able to work as a program assistant?
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, commitment to positive social change, self-motivation, quick response abilities, exceptional organizational skills, detail orientation, and being technical savvy are just some of the skills that one requires to work in this role.
4. How important do you think administrative skills are while working as a program assistant?
Program assistants work in many areas and administrative work is one of them. The ability to handle administrative tasks such as maintaining accountability to administrative systems and procedures, managing meetings and presentations, handling calendars and scheduling duties, and tracking departmental work, are all important parts of a program assistant’s work.
5. As far as data handling is concerned, what has been your experience?
I have been actively involved in data handling procedures, including compiling data from a variety of sources including work orders, budget reports, and personnel records. In addition to this, I have experience in maintaining a wide variety of manual and electronic documents, files, and records such as board policies, financial records, and state reports.
6. Where do you see your career heading, 5 years from now?
Eventually, I would like to be a program director, bringing in sizeable projects and corresponding funding opportunities to the company that I represent.
