The cover letter era when you could write four sentences and be done with it was so long ago that one does not even remember it!
The last couple of decades have seen cover letters transform for mere 4 liners to long paragraphs detailing how great an applicant is.
This may seem like a bit selfish and self-centered, but then if one does not openly say how good one is, how would you expect to get a job?
Cover letters for dressmaker position are essentially marketing tools that job seekers use to market their value to hiring managers.
They do not just provide a protective covering for a resume – they have a greater purpose. A cover letter is sent along with a resume to help hiring managers decide which candidate to pick up, based on his or her specific qualifications, strengths, skills and capabilities. Everything in a cover letter should point to how great a candidate you are for the job. A little like what is written in the cover letter sample below:

Dear Mr. Price:
Previously worked for The House of Fashion, one of the biggest fashion concerns in Lexington, I would like to offer you my services as a Dressmaker. With such great exposure to the world of fashion, and intense training in dressmaking, I am sure that you will be highly interested in what I have to offer to you.
It is worthy to mention here that I have won several awards for my dress designs over the last 10 years, including the extremely prestigious Royal Dresser Award in January of 2017. With my ability to determine clients’ specific dressmaking requirements, styles and cuts, I have always been the choice to commission for loyal clients, and those who require absolute perfection in their designs and cuts.
Making garment style changes, handling fitting sessions, and developing and adapting designs are areas that I am most proficient in. As someone who strongly believes that time is indeed money, I make sure that all my work is completed on time, and that any unforeseen delays are timely communicated to the client.
Additionally, I always keep on top of the competition by researching popular trends in the fashion industry and then ensuring that the organization that I represent, keeps up with them.
My aesthetics and work prowess as a dressmaker can only be judged if you see my work. I would be happy to show you samples in a face to face meeting, to arrange which, I will contact you soon. If you need to get in touch with me, please call on the number given below.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Roger Harper
