Overview and Guidelines
A cover letter is almost never written in one go. One needs to sit down and think very hard before writing one and even when one is finished, a lot has to be taken out and put in. This is actually a very good thing. If you have had to do a lot editing, it means that you are on the road to writing a cover letter that will be an instant hit with the hiring manager.
So while you may write your cover letter within a space of a few hours, it is best to go through it several times before you actually decide that you have written a masterpiece. A state of the art cover letter goes beyond regular cover letter writing and that is why cover letter writing experts insist that you get your creative juices flowing.
As opposed to the tight-lipped and overly formal cover letters of the olden times, cover letters of now are informally written pieces of content. They do not need to be stiff anymore – in fact, hiring managers like cover letters that are light-hearted and easy to gauge.

Dear Mr. Wood:
As a top-performing professional who has extensive experience in handling maintenance and repair work on large residential and commercial buildings, I believe that my candidature for a building maintenance worker at Pathfinder will be of great interest to you.
Bragging is not my thing but I do have a lot to be proud of – a glimpse of which I have placed here for your review:
• Reduced the frequency of performing building repair work by 58% by employing preventative maintenance measures
• Increased coworker efficiency by 44% by introducing the concept of “hand-in-hand work processes”
• Performed preventative maintenance in a newly remodeled 22 story building within 8 hours
Speed and accuracy are my specialties – skills in forms of luck charms that help me complete my work on time and in a manner that is conducive to the work orders provided to me. With 8 years of experience in building maintenance work, there is very little that I have not done yet.
I will call you to find out if you are free for a personal meeting next week, so that I can elaborate on my qualifications for this job. Until we get a chance to meet, I can be contacted at (777) 777-7777.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
