Signal Systems Support Specialist Interview Questions & Answers

How did you venture into working in signal systems support work?
I have always been highly interested in signal systems as they relate to battlefield communications work, and this interest led me to train in this area, and eventually climb up the ladder to a specialist position.

What is the best part of working as a signal systems support specialist?
It is difficult to outline just one. The work is fascinating on many levels, and I love working on every part of it.

What duties have you performed in the role of a signal systems support specialist in the past?
As a signal systems support specialist, I have been actively setting up, installing, calibrating, testing, and troubleshooting signal systems, along from integrating them with networks, and performing signal support functions. In addition to this, I have been responsible for maintaining radio and data distribution systems and providing training and technical assistance to users.

Speaking of troubleshooting, what has been the most difficult situation that you have come across?
To be honest, difficult situations are an everyday thing when you are working as a signal systems support specialist. But one situation did leave me in a quandary for some time, as I was completely clueless on how to handle it in the beginning. An assigned signal system had malfunctioned – the signals that it was giving off were poor. I put all my effort into determining what the problem was and ended up in concluding that the system itself was working fine. After much deliberation and checking, I realized that there was a signal jammer in the vicinity, which is an offense. I managed to track down the person doing this and had him disable the jammer.

What inherent skills does one require to work as a signal systems support specialist?
One has to know the work inside out before one can work at this position in a successful manner. Additionally, it is important to possess the ability to insightfully set up and monitor signal systems, and handle any problems in an emergent, and precise manner.

What do you deem your biggest strength?
I am a very thorough individual, which makes it easy for me to handle my work in a profound manner, leaving little or no leeway for mistakes.
