Imagine a hiring manager having to pick up and read more than 2 dozen cover letters in a day. How interesting a job could this be? Not much!
While it is the main job of a hiring manager to go through several dozen cover letters in a day, the human element says that it is not possible for him or her to like each and every one of them.
As a candidate, it is your responsibility to make sure that your Security Specialist cover letter is a treat to read. What happens if it isn’t? If your cover letter is as mundane as the rest, there is a good chance that it won’t get read past the first sentence.
Writing a cover letter should be a big deal for you. You should be able to hook the hiring manager from the first sentence – preferably from the first word. The following cover letter will provide you with an idea on how this can be done:

Mr. Raymond Fox
Human Resource Manager
Spectrum
9044 Westcroft Road
West Chester, PA 51902
Dear Mr. Fox:
I am a staunch believer of the fact that security, whether that of individuals or places, is of the utmost importance to any facility or business. Putting many years of service as a Security Specialist on the table, I would like to offer the benefit of my experience and exposure in this regard to Spectrum.
Performing periodic and random security inspections, and preparing security reports are two of the areas where my expertise lie. Monitoring and supervising activities within assigned areas, and issuing verbal and written warnings to promote safe environments is my niche. As I am a vigilant individual, I always keep an eye out for disturbances, fights, unauthorized visitors, and criminal activities, aiming to stop them and prevent any harm to people or premises.
With my experience in ensuring that all accesses are manned properly, and installed with surveillance equipment, I have been able to secure my current place of work (and the people working in it) a 100%. Performing facility security risk assessments, conducting revisits to assigned sites for improved security, and documenting all assessments according to protocol are where much of my strengths are prevalent.
It would be a pleasure to meet with you in person, and provide you with a more detailed view of my abilities as a security specialist. I will contact your secretary to decide a time and date. In the interim, you may contact me at (000) 333-2010 if required.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
