Radiologic Technologist Interview Questions & Answers

What led you to peruse a career in radiography?
My interest stemmed from the first time I was x-rayed, way back in high school. A short conversation with the technologist at that time piqued my interest in the work, later leading me to peruse a career in it.

What have been your primary duties while working as a radiographic technologist?
As a radiographic technologist, I have been responsible for many tasks, including setting up and calibrating radiography equipment, performing patient intake duties, taking, recording, and printing radiographs, determining initial analysis and providing reporting support. Also, it has been my duty to engage patients in conversation to decide on their specific concerns and to put their fears at bay.

In your experience, what is the most challenging part of working as a radiographic technologist?
It may seem a bit difficult to believe, but there are many people out there who are severely phobic of radiographic machines. Putting their fears at ease is probably the most challenging part of working at this position.

What is the one achievement that you are extremely proud of?
About six months ago, I managed to create a set of instructions and FAQs to help patients and their families understand that radiograph machines are no aliens from outer space, and they do not need to be feared. This little booklet was later printed and distributed as part of the patient education program. I am very proud of this initiative.

What is the one skill that a radiographic technologist needs to work successfully in this position?
As far as work-related skills are concerned, one needs to be highly aware of using and calibrating radiographic machines and equipment. Where personal skills are concerned, the ability to communicate effectively is crucial, as both patient liaison and reporting are dependent on it.

What is your modus operandi where work-related problems are concerned?
I am an extremely organized and diligent individual, which keeps problems at bay usually. When they do arise, I make sure that I resolve them by getting to their core, so that they do not resurface.
