To be honest, there wasn’t one but several factors that brought me into freight management. Perhaps my ability to handle the intricacies of this work, and a great interest in coordinating different levels of shipments is what made me choose this career line.
What do you think is the most important skill that one must possess to be considered highly for the position of a freight coordinator?
I believe that working in any area requires not one but an array of skills particular to the job. If I am to pick just one up, I’d say it is the ability to stay organized even when the odds are against you.
What is a typical work day as a freight coordinator like?
A typical work day in this role means maintaining liaison with vendors, ensuring that inbound and outbound shipments are properly coordinated, handling freight costs at every level, and ensuring that all paperwork is duly created and submitted along with shipments.
What is the most difficult part of working as a freight coordinator?
I would probably not call it difficult, but yes, it is a bit challenging to handle the logistics of several shipments at the same time.
So how do you handle this challenge?
Luckily, I am a person of great means when it comes to my work. Since I am an organized individual by nature, I make sure that my priorities are sorted out. This makes it easy for me to handle challenging work assignments.
In what capacity do you see yourself working in the next few years?
I am hoping to build up my knowledge and exposure to freight management at this point in time. Soon after, I hope to lead an entire department in this capacity.
