The standard cover letter has evolved immensely over the years.
It is because employers want to hire the best, and this leaves applicants at the mercy of “outward appearances.” How?
Well, a cover letter that simply says that you want to work for a company will be overshadowed by one that says that you are the best, and hiring you will be best for the company. And it is obvious why this is so.
Writing a cover letter in this day and age has become a rat race.
Everyone wants to come out a winner, but that is not possible. Unless everyone makes an effort to create content that is acceptable to a hiring manager.
It is only possible if one writes a cover letter that elicits information about skills and qualifications specifically. It does not matter which position you are applying for, as long as your cover letter says all the right things. Here is a sample to help you write your own:
Carpenter Assistant Cover Letter Example
March 22, 2018
Mr. Bill Garcia
Human Resource Manager
Woodworks Inc.
4746 Greens Road NE
New Albany, OH 27734
Dear Mr. Garcia:
I have been working on complex carpentry projects in an assistantship capacity for over a year now, and would now like to offer my services as a carpenter assistant at Woodworks Inc. My skills in providing support to both small and big projects are exceptional, as you will find out the day I start working with you.
Complete comprehension of choosing the right type of materials, tools, and equipment for each assigned carpentry project, and an inherent ability to manage several projects at the same time, make me an excellent contender to be hired at this position. Since I am a seasoned carpenter assistant, you will not need to spend time or resources on training me, as I will get to work immediately.
My expertise lies in many areas, including performing tie spacing layouts, measuring materials and objects, marking reference points, drilling holes in wooden materials, and aligning and straightening forms for installation purposes. In addition to this, I have a great knack for using tools such as power saws, claw hammers, chisels, and utility knives, ensuring that they are used safely.
I would like to meet with you in person to provide you with a broader overview of my capabilities, for which I will call you to set up a meeting time soon. Until then, please call me at (000) 854-5214, if required.
Thank you for your time and consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Fred Boston
