The beginning and end of a cover letter are the most impactful. That is why it is important to make them count. There is no rule that says that you have to write your cover letter in a certain manner – or in simple text. While simple text is preferred, it is best to highlight your sentences and lists with bullets, asterisks or dashes to make them more prominent. The shorter the sentence, the more effective it will be.
If you look at an employer’s mission statement before beginning to write your cover letter, you will find a lot to write in the opening. Working phrases and words from the mission statement into your letter will give you an edge over others who haven’t thought of doing this. This way, you can describe your work ethics, skills and values in a cover letter, as they apply to a particular position.
Do not write your cover letter in a hurry. If you are going to scout the web for one of those free cover letter templates, fill in the blanks and sent it off to a hiring manager, you will probably just watch your hair turn gray waiting for an answer. Write your cover letter only when you know that you have the time that it warrants.

Dear Mr. Mendes:
Tenacious, enthusiastic, assertive and go-getter are just a few words that have been used to describe my professional personality as a celebrity personal assistant over the past 8 years. Possessing deep insight into “how the other half lives”, I am confident that I can prove myself to be an excellent personal assistant to any celebrity.
Having served the likes of Rihanna, Kendell Jenner and Idris Alba, I know the demands of the high life and can easily live up to it – both for myself and for the celebrity that I am assigned to. Organizing and coordinating the details of events such as premiers, filming, photoshoots and award ceremonies is something that I can manage in the blink of an eye. As someone who has strong contacts in the entertainment industry, I am sure that my background will be of interest to you.
I have enclosed my resume with this cover letter which contains detail of my talents and accomplishments. I am convinced that my qualifications are well-suited to the challenges of working as a celebrity personal assistant. I will contact you soon to arrange an interview. If you would like to contact me, I can be reached at (000) 744-4121.
