Career Advisor Cover Letter Sample

Updated on: January 3, 2021

Cover letters matter, despite many people believing that they are a waste of time. The cover letter serves to help recruiters in determining the right candidate for a job – without one, they may dump the resume.

A compelling cover letter, for a Career Advisor job, can save you from many things, including a not so well written resume, or an incident where a hiring manager is not really in the mood to read one. In such a case, reading the cover letter will help them decide that you are in!

Customizing your cover letter is the way to go forward. If you want to be considered for a position, writing a boilerplate cover letter will not do. Do not write one single cover letter, and change names and dates to send it to different places – always write a different one for each job that you apply for.

For a career advisor position, the following cover letter will help you write your own:

Mr. Julio Robinson
Human Resource Manager
New Mexico State University
99 7th Avenue
Santa Fe, NM 73648

Dear Mr. Robinson:

I have worked as a career advisor at Santa Fe University for over 5 years now, and I am well aware of all the major and minor details that make the processes of employment and advisement run smoothly. Given this experience, I would like to offer my services in a career advisor capacity – my resume (enclosed) speaks volumes about my suitability for this job.

As a career advisor, I have been handling student assessments, providing one on one counseling for career and further education, and ensuring that students are placed in their desired jobs as quickly as possible. Owing to exceptional communication abilities, I have often been called upon to handle presentations designed for outreach activities, and can effectively engage students in conversation to provide them information regarding available job opportunities, and how to strategically apply for them.

Over the years that I worked in this capacity, I have learned several tactics required to bring recruiters onboard, and determine suitable job options for each candidate, based on his or her specific requirements. As a career advisor, I have been highly successful in placing candidates in jobs that best suit their work prowess, and skills set.

Anticipating a face to face meeting between us, I will call you soon to set an interview date and time. In the meantime, please contact me at (222) 222-2222 if you need any information that you may not find in my job application documents.

Thank you for your time and consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Elijah Harrison
