Addiction Counselor Cover Letter Sample

Updated on: April 3, 2018

Hoping to bag the Addiction Counselor job of your dreams? Well, you can do it by writing a focused cover letter.

Some people consider the cover letter as the most crucial part of a job application set – and with good reason. No other document can highlight an applicant’s capabilities as the cover letter does.

Using the cover letter to cross the very important bridge to the interview stage, is not the easiest of things. You have to be very eloquent in the information that you provide. However, talking about your experience is not going to win you any gold coins.

The primary purpose of a cover letter is to get it across to the hiring manager, how amazing you are, and how you will use the skills that you possess to contribute to the company where you’re applying. The first thing that needs to be done here is to figure out what your skills are. Once that is out of the way, you can proceed to write your cover letter akin to the sample provided here:

Mr. Craig Hyde
Human Resource Manager
Comprehensive Counseling Solutions
200 Henry Way
Overland Park, KS10033

Dear Mr. Hyde:

Providing ongoing support to clients suffering from emotional, physical, and mental disorders due to substance abuse is my niche. Having worked as an addiction counselor for over nine years now, I am highly experienced in providing timely, and well-placed treatment for drug addictions, and all the related issues that it brings. Hoping to give you a more comprehensive view of my abilities in this regard, I invite you to review the enclosed resume.

Perhaps my most challenging support case was that of a 7-year-old girl, who was hopelessly addicted to a dangerous drug, initially due to passive smoking, and then actively inhaling drug-infused smoke. The fact that social services had separated her from her family (who was responsible for her condition) made it even more challenging to reach her at any level.

However, she is now successfully placed in a foster home, enjoying life as any young child deserves. But this is not the only challenging case that I have handled. Meeting clients from different backgrounds and problems, and helping them cope with the repercussions of drug abuse is all in a day’s work for me. Evaluating their conditions, creating and implementing treatment plans, determining the efficacy of implemented plans, and providing continuous support to clients are areas that I am exceptionally well-versed in.

To further highlight my abilities and competencies in a drug counselor capacity, I would like to meet with you in person. If you need to reach me before I get a chance to arrange a meeting between us, you may contact me at (111) 111-1111.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
