Sample Email for Possible Job Openings

Updated on: July 22, 2019

In attempts to move up the career ladder or change the direction of our careers, we often look for other job opportunities even if we are quite set in the position we are presently holding.

There may or may not be available positions in companies that we want to work for, but that should not stop us from inquiring into a possible job opening.

There are times when companies are waiting for a specific time (for whatever reason) to advertise for an opening.

At times, they might want to indulge in internal hiring, so the position is open but has not been publicly advertised.

If you have found out about such a situation or would just like to become part of an organization, the best way to go about it is to write an email inquiring about possible job openings.

Your email will not be considered anything less than a cover letter – you may or may not want to attach a resume with it.

Your email should be straightforward and provide information on why you think you are a good fit for a possible position in the organization.

It is a good idea to provide information on why you have chosen a certain company to inquire about a possible position, as your interest will play a great role in an employer deciding if he wants you to come in for a meeting or an interview.

Dear Ms. Bling:

I have been in great awe of the work that Green Peace USA has been doing through the decades and it would be nothing less than a dream come true if I could become part of this organization. I am writing to inquire about a possible Project Manager position that may be open or is about to be vacant at Green Peace USA.

Presently working for Green Earth, I have been trained in leading conservation projects much like the ones Green Peace is famous for indulging in. I am a conservation enthusiast – I have led the all-important Project Save Me, which was organized with the help of your organization. You will be able to find out the nature of my contribution to this project if you read through the attached project report that was made public last year.

Since most of the work that I have done over the past 8 years has been conservation-related, I believe that I will be a good fit for a project manager position at Green Peace. Please call me at (333) 333-3333 if there is a position I can apply for or one that may open up in the near future.

Thank you for taking out the time to read my email. I anticipate your response in the near future.

Sincerely,

John Sender
