Post-interview thank you letters are an absolute must to write once you are done with the process.
There are two reasons to write an interview thank you letter.
The first one is that it is a polite thing to do.
Secondly, it gives you a chance to reach out to the employer once again and make your presence felt.
Unless you made an exceptionally positive impression on the interviewer, you need to highlight the fact that you were one of the people who were interviewed, and that you have a lot to offer.
If the employer/interviewer remembers you, he will welcome another contact with you.
If you are just a face in a sea of candidates, the thank you letter will remind him or her about who you are and what you have to offer particularly.
Thank you letters are a norm now.
Actually, many employers welcome these letters in the hopes of getting acquainted with the best out of the lot that has been interviewed.
Employers cannot be expected to remember the names and faces of all the people they interview, which is why they sometimes depend on the second contact to figure out who is the best option to hire.
