Order Filler Interview: 6 Questions and Answers

The last step in the Order Filler job application process is the interview, and coincidentally, this stage is also the most important – and difficult.

All the effort that you placed into writing a resume and cover letter, and the phone calls that you made to follow up, might as well have been in vain if you do not ace the interview. But what does one do to ace this step as well?

There is no other way of winning the interviewer’s heart except to prepare well. Knowing the company inside out will help. Knowing what questions might be asked will help further. Here’s a set of interview questions and answers for the position of an order picker to help you along:

1. What inspired you to apply for an order picker position at our organization?
I have always been in awe of the way your warehouse is run, thanks to a short internship I did here 3 years ago. Since then, I have been hopeful of bagging a position as an order picker. The opportunity to do so has only just arisen at your company.

2. What duties have you performed in the role of an order filler previously?
Comprehending written and oral order picking instructions, determining the exact location of the item, picking and comparing it with work orders, transporting it to the packing area and ensuring that it is packed and labeled properly, and ensuring that the packed item is shipped in a timely manner have all been part of my work as an order filler.

3. What skills do you possess which make you a great person to hire as an order filler?
I am physically strong and can easily pick and move items weighing up to 100 lbs. Apart from this, I can operate pallet jacks and forklifts, and have a great capacity to manage warehouse inventory. Since I have worked extensively in this position in a warehouse environment, I am knowledgeable about the different aspects of handling order-filling work in this capacity.

4. What is the one skill that you believe is most important in this work?
I believe that there is no one skill that one can depend on solely. Working as an order filler means that you have to use a wide array of skills to be successful at what you do.

5. What is your experience with handling paperwork?
My experience in handling paperwork is quite extensive, as I am also responsible for ensuring that the right documents are created and sent along with all outgoing shipments.

6. Where do you want this career to lead you?
Eventually, I would want to run the operations of a busy and fast-paced warehouse, a feat that I am already working diligently towards.
