Why does information technology interest you so much?
I have always had a knack for technology, and when I decided that I wanted to work in information technology, it was because of the challenges that it offered, despite my expertise in it. I believe that one should enjoy what one does, and I enjoy working with technology.

What has been your journey like to the position of an information technology specialist?
Working my way up to the position of an information technology has been one great ride. I started out as an intern in an IT company 6 years ago, and have gradually moved up the ladder to the position of a specialist. The journey has been anything but boring – I have learned a lot and love the challenges that are thrown at me almost each day at work.

What duties have you performed in the role of an information technology specialist?
As an information technology specialist, I have been developing and implementing IT programs, providing technical support to escalated issues, troubleshooting software and hardware issues, planning and preparing integration of new and upgraded technologies, participating in web-based project development work, managing and administering the company’s intranet and websites, and assisting with identifying and fulfilling staff training needs.

And what skills do you possess which make doing all this less problematic than it would be if you weren’t skilled?
I possess exceptional knowledge of computer hardware, software and related peripherals, along with demonstrated expertise in handling both local and wide area networks. In addition to this, I have exceptional skills in handling relational database management systems, including Paradox and SQL Server. Furthermore, my expertise lie in handling data and system backup procedures and methodologies is extremely well-placed.

What is the one thing that gives you a great kick professionally?
When I get stuck on a technical problem, it actually provides me with great motivation to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

What are your 5 year future plans?
I intend to work my way up to the position of an information technology director within the next few years.
