What makes it worth your while to work as a longshoreman?
It is the constant challenge of the work that makes it worth my while to work at this position. I love working in an environment that is fast-paced, and working as a longshoreman fulfills this wish.

What duties have you performed in the role of a longshoreman in the past?
As a longshoreman, my duties involve operating and maintaining complex loading equipment to load and unload cargo containers from ships. In addition to this, I have been responsible for ensuring that cargo containers are properly organized and safely set in cargo ships, so that they reach their destinations intact.

Which duty associated with this work do you find the most difficult?
To be perfectly candid, I do not find anything so difficult that I cannot do it. True, the challenges are there, but I take them all up and work relentlessly to meet deadlines and expectations.

What skills do you believe are absolutely necessary to possess when working as a longshoreman?
I believe that it is imperative to know the cargo business inside out, especially the logistics end of it. Also, it is important to know how to handle containers in a safe manner, possess the knowledge of operating equipment and machines such as forklifts, and have physical strength and dexterity to be able to do justice to this work.

How do you feel about working in the great outdoors?
One of the reasons that I wanted to work as a longshoreman was the fact that I love working outdoors. Inclement weather and the likes of it just adds to my adventure.

What is your take about working in a team environment?
I love working with other people. And I am a natural at making friends at the workplace. I believe that it is teamwork that makes it easy for a project to be successful.
