6 Principal Interview Questions and Answers

1. What is the most challenging part of working as a principal?
I believe that working in any academic capacity is full of challenges. As far as working as a principal is concerned, it is looking for the right type of people such as teachers and administrative staff members, to work towards the mission of the school.

2. What type of duties have you been performing in the role of a principal in the past?
As a school principal, I have been actively involved in creating and implementing school organizational structures, including school cultures, staffing, and scheduling. In addition to this, I have created and implemented core curriculums to meet the individualized needs of each student, ensured effective implementation of school systems, handled hiring, training, and development activities, and overseen compliance with federal, state, and local requirements of the academic system.

3. In your opinion, what is the one thing that makes an individual great at working as a principal?
I believe that one needs to possess strong leadership qualities to be able to handle the responsibilities of working as a principal.

4. What is your biggest weakness?
I am a perfectionist. I understand that perfection in every aspect is not possible, and I am working diligently to make sure that I do not feel disappointed when I cannot do something in a perfect manner.

5. As a school principal, what is the main thing that you look at to make sure that you run a tight school?
I believe that school staff (including teachers and assistants) need ongoing training to make sure that they contribute effectively to the academic system. I make sure that all their training and development needs are fulfilled to ensure that the school is run in a tight manner.

6. As far as student liaison is concerned, what is your input?
I make sure that I create and maintain solid relationships with my students so that they can reach out to me when they like. This helps immensely in solidifying my “open door” policy.
