The cover letter is a great window into an applicant’s professional existence. And it needs to be handled in a certain way.
Cover letter writing has always been a bit complicated, and it always will be. This is because one cannot possibly know what a hiring manager is looking for in a new employee (except for what he or she obviously states in a job advertisement), which makes it a bit complex for applicants. But it is something that has to be done.
There is no shortcut to writing a good cover letter. You have to do your research and then write one accordingly. Since you cannot possibly make the hiring manager happy by 100%, you have to strive to come as close as possible.
What is most important here is your ability to communicate to a hiring manager that there is no one better than you to do the job that he or she has advertised. A little like this:
