Postmaster Cover Letter Sample

Updated May 25, 2017

Cover letters for postmaster position nowadays are not similar to what they were just 6 years ago. A lot has changed. While they are still used for the same purpose, they have evolved as far as the content is concerned. No longer is it acceptable to write cover letters in the same mundane way that they used to be written in. Now, hiring managers look for cover letters that are a class apart from all the others that they have read over the last few hours.

But writing a postmaster cover letter that truly stands out is not all that easy. A great amount of effort and research is involved here. You need to first find out what the company is all about, and then write a cover letter to impress the hiring manager according to what he will be impressed by. A bit tricky, but not impossible to do. Making sure that your cover letter beats all others for the same position is imperative.

Here is a sample for you to go through:

Mr. Roger Moore
Human Resource Manager
United States Postal Services
231 Bucks Creek Road
Gillett, PA 63102

Dear Mr. Moore:

I have worked as a postmaster for over 12 years in 2 different states. Having recently moved to Gillett, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that there was an open position at the United States Postal Services, and that the outlined specifications gel extremely well with what I have to offer – down to the last dot!

Offering extensive experience in handling the operational functions of large post offices, along with managing staff members to ensure delivery of seamless service, I am sure that I will be a credit to your office. Directing and coordinating the operational, management and support services of a postal facility, and overseeing appropriate and well-placed processing of both incoming and outgoing mail are my special feats. Furthermore, I have been deeply involved in performing a plethora of administrative duties such as developing and implementing staff schedules, performing recruiting and hiring activities, and managing staff issues and problems.

Just last year, I was highly commended on developing and implementing an annual plan for the post office, as it was considered the most successful one so far, with the highest expected turnout.

I would like your office to benefit from my insight into managing post offices, which is why I would like to set up a meeting time to discuss this in detail. Please feel free to contact me if you require further information.

Sincerely,
