How do you manage the many responsibilities and accountabilities associated with working as a construction superintendent?
I am a well-organized person, who is aware of his priorities. These two things make it less challenging for me to work in this capacity, as I make sure that I prioritize my work efficiently.
What have been your prime responsibilities while working as a construction supervisor?
While working as a construction supervisor, I have been busy handling a lot of work, including creating and implementing work schedules, performing inspections of worksites, providing workers with heads up on required work, assisting with problems and constraints, building and maintaining liaison with vendors and suppliers, and enforcing safety rules.
What is the one thing that you make sure that you do where worker safety is concerned?
As far as workers’ safety is concerned, I am a tyrant! I make sure that all workers understand and follow safety rules and regulations to the tee, and that they don safety clothing while they are on the worksite. In addition to this, I give workers safety briefings at the beginning of each shift, to ensure that they understand the importance of staying safe, and working safely.
What skills do you possess which make you an excellent person to hire as a construction superintendent?
I am a great leader, who leads by example, and not through the order. In addition to this, I am highly knowledgeable about construction work, which makes it easy for me to handle the many duties associated with overseeing construction modules. In addition to this, I am exceptionally well-versed in interpreting orders and drawings, and providing workers with insight into managing construction projects, and project modules.
What has been your most challenging project so far?
The 100 level Beta Mall on Tweak Road is my most precious accomplishment – it was also the hardest that I have done. That was not because of the enormity of the project, but the fact that there were too many teams working on it, and it was challenging to keep them all on the same page.
How does the future look to you, where your professional existence is concerned?
I am extremely hopeful of the future. Since I am a diligent individual, it is not difficult for me to imagine being at the top of the organizational hierarchy very soon.
