Computer technicians manage repairs, installation, and maintenance of computers and laptops. Apart from handling stand-alone computer issues, they also lead network problems.

There are many challenges that a computer technician has to face on a typical workday. They install hardware and software, configure LANs, WANs, and MANs and maintain network services.

They may also be expected to maintain and repair equipment and troubleshoot computer and network issues. Some computer technicians perform help desk operations by taking customers’ telephone calls and assisting them in resolving their issues.


Computer technicians are usually required to have a degree in computer science. They are employed by every organization that uses technology as a basis for their work. Computer technicians, who have a hardware certification such as A+ in addition to a technical degree, have more chances of securing a position as a computer technician.
