Position Overview

Medical coders are the most important part of the healthcare team as they facilitate a doctor’s payment by placing relevant codes into a system. They interpret patients’ medical charts and assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to each service rendered so that payments may be facilitated effectively.

Individuals who do not wish to go through formal medical school but would still like to be a part of the healthcare industry are usually the ones who get on the job training as a medical coder. Medical coders need to be qualified CPC, CPC-H, CCS or CCS-P to be able to apply for this job.
