Entry-Level Sales Clerk Cover Letter No Experience

Updated on: December 13, 2022

Sometimes, it becomes a bit difficult to believe that if we have little or no experience, we will be considered a “no-go” by hiring managers.

That is not true.

When you are writing a cover letter, experience does not matter.

What does matter are your skills and qualifications to do the job. Since this is true for all positions, whether they are entry-level or experienced ones, it is essential to keep your cover letter focused on these grounds.

Writing an entry-level cover letter may make you feel that you are inferior – don’t think that way. Your abilities and skills are never inferior to anything or anyone.

If you lack experience, that does not have to be a bad thing. In fact, some employers actively seek out applicants who have no experience so that they can train them according to their wishes. And of course, everyone has to start somewhere!

A cover letter sample for a sales clerk position who has no experience in hand is provided below:

Mr. Ronald King
Human Resource Manager
Macy’s

Dear Mr. King:

I was going through available retail positions when I came across your advertisement for a sales clerk position at Macy’s. Having worked as a retail intern last summer, I am confident that I will be an immediate contributor to Macy’s success.

My exposure to retail sales stemmed from my placement in 2 different areas, i.e., sales and marketing. Having been trained in both these areas, I can easily handle both sales and marketing assistance work, aiming to work towards the provision of consistently excellent customer services.

Since I have been rotated in many different departments of a large retail store, I am quite familiar with the inner workings of each department. This knowledge coupled with an inherent interest in working in sales in a retail environment will make me a great contender to be considered for a sales clerk position at Macy’s.

I would like to meet with you in person so that I can provide you with more detailed information about my capabilities and skills in a sales capacity. I will call you soon so that a mutually convenient interview time and date can be arranged. If you feel the need to contact me in the meantime, please feel free to do so at (000) 475-5647.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Linda Green
