Distribution Clerk Interview Questions and Answers

1. What exactly is the work of a distribution clerk in your opinion?

A distribution clerk makes sure that orders are properly mobilized within a warehouse setting. It is his or her responsibility to make sure that all incoming orders are processed, packed and labeled, and transported to the awaiting delivery truck.

2. But isn’t this description too close to that of an order picker?

A distribution clerk does perform a great deal of work that overlaps with the work duties of an order picker. However, the work of the former is more profound in the sense that there is the added responsibility of supervising processes and procedures, and ensuring that all paperwork is in order.

3. As far as order picking is concerned, what is your experience?

I began my career by working as an order picker in a small warehouse setting, eventually ending up working in the same capacity in a large one. I am aware of all the intricacies and protocols that need to be kept in mind when performing order-picking duties. I have handled labeling and packing duties, operated the forklift to pick orders, and know-how to ensure that workplace safety rules are followed.

4. Speaking of workplace safety, what is your take on it?

I believe that warehouses can be highly dangerous working environments if safety procedures are not enforced. Every employee who works in any capacity within a warehouse must be made aware of the dangers and encouraged to follow appropriate safety and security rules.

5. What skills do you possess that make you an excellent contender to work as a distribution clerk?

Firstly, I am a physically dexterous and agile individual which makes it easy for me to lift and carry over 80lbs of weight. In addition to this, I am a well-organized person who can create and maintain storage spaces for different types of items, in accordance with their fragility and size.

6. Eventually, what is it that you would like to do say, 10 years from now?

I am extremely focused which means that I would want to be leading a team of warehouse workers within the next few years. Eventually, I would like to have a freight mobilization company of my own!
