Clerk is an organizational position found within every business function, including but not limited to HR, sales, payroll, accounting and legal. A clerk plays an important role in the day to day and routine operations of an office. They greet customers as they enter a facility, provide them with relevant information and carry out basic secretarial functions.

While their work is quite generalized, they dominate almost all industries so there are different types of clerks including office clerks and store clerks alike.
