Target Cashier Interview Questions and Answers

Why do you want to work for Target specifically?
I like structured environments and I believe that Target has that to offer – and much more. If chosen to work here, I see myself contributing a lot to its already well-placed atmosphere.

What were your duties as a cashier in a similar capacity previously?
While working as a cashier at Wal-Mart, I was responsible for operating complex POS machines to process both cash and card transactions, scanning purchases, tendering change and receipts, performing bagging duties and balancing cash registers.

What is the toughest thing about working as a cashier?
I wouldn’t call it tough but I feel that making sure that there are no discrepancies in your assigned cash drawer is often challenging, especially during rush hours and times when there is a shortage of staff and you’re handling more than one task at a time.

How do you handle cash drawer discrepancies?
Thankfully, I am a meticulous person who almost never has problems in balancing her cash drawer. If and when such a discrepancy does occur, I spend a lot of time and effort in determining the origin of the problem so that I can resolve it. It is not always easy but it is always doable!

How do you feel about job rotation?
I believe that job rotation is a great concept. It keeps people from stagnating in their present positions, provides insight into other types of work, and gives an organization employees that are multi-talented and easy to fit in a variety of situations. I don’t mind being rotated one bit!

On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the highest), where do you rate your skills as a cashier?
I believe I stand at a realistic 8. I have had great experience working as a cashier in a retail setting but still have a lot to learn as learning is an ongoing process.
