1. What made you choose to work as a bookstore sales associate?

I have always been a great advocate of reading and books in general, and when the first opportunity to work in a bookstore arose 3 years ago, I scooped it with both hands.

2. What type of duties have you been responsible for in this role?

As a bookstore sales associate, I have been performing frontline duties such as greeting customers as they arrive at the store, providing them with information on where books of their choice are shelved, assisting them in locating books, providing information on new arrivals and bestsellers, and leading them through purchasing processes.

3. What has been your most significant achievement so far?

2 years ago, I led a book reading marathon which eventually started a readers’ revolution within the city, encouraging hardcore readers to form reading clubs and the like of them. I am credited with this accomplishment.

4. What does it feel to be working in an environment were inanimate books are your sole company most of the day?

I am a book sniffer. I don’t believe that books are inanimate objects. They have entire worlds inside them. I enjoy working in this environment.

5. What skills do you think one needs when working as a bookstore sales associate?

I believe that an inherent love for books and reading is foremost. Additionally, one needs to possess exceptional knowledge of popular authors and bestsellers, deep familiarity with sales work, a great ability to handle supplier liaison, and exceptional cashiering skills.

6. And what are your five-year plans?

I am in the process of writing a book of short stories and hope to have it published soon. I intend to keep on writing.
