A decade ago, working from home was something completely unheard of. With such great advancement in technology in the last few years, many people have opted to work from home instead of doing the customary 9 to 5 job.
Their reason is simple – you make more money in less amount of time, and you get to sit in the comfort of your home while doing it. Sound like a dream come true? Well, not really!
There are downsides to working from home. For one, you have to dedicate a certain number of hours each day if you want to meet your income goal – and if you are working from home for a reason (like an illness or looking after a small child), you might not be able to give as much time as you will be expected to.
But this is not the only downside.
Finding legitimate work on the Internet is not easy.
There are hundreds of sites providing wrong information and swindling people left, right and center!
You may be asked to pay $50 for “registration” so that you can “earn $500 a day” and the next thing you know, you have lost the $50 with no signs of working towards earning the $500!
It is a constant struggle to find legitimate work that you can do online. But it is not impossible.
Many people have left well-paying jobs in the quest for better-paying ones and have succeeded.

Some companies that offer legitimate online jobs include Allwriting, Resource Academia, oDesk, Elance, and Freelancer. They provide both job seekers and employers with a platform to meet, discuss their projects, and hire for work and charge a nominal fee for their services.
The best way to not become victim to an online scam is to know your typical “work from home” scams.
Logic dictates that you should not be paying anyone to give you a job so if someone asks you to pay them, you should pay heed to the warning bells.
Many companies hire people for their call centers – work that they can do from home but for which they will initially need to be interviewed either online or in person. In a situation such as this, it is easy to gauge if you are being offered legitimate work or being taken for a ride!
