Writing an email cover letter for a job inquiry needs somewhat different guidelines than a standard cover letter. Its content is not that much different from a paper cover letter. Here is an example:
Email Cover Letter for Job Inquiry
Subject: Job Inquiry for Administrative Assistant position
August 12, 2012
Mr. John Doe
Metropolitan Business Solutions
54 Some Street
Houston TX 12247
Dear Mr. Doe:
My friend Bethany Paul who is working as a receptionist in your organization provided me with your email address so that I could inquire about the job opening for an Administrative Assistant at Metropolitan Business Solutions. I have heard that your organization harbors and nurtures its employees by encouraging professional advancement and rewarding ingenuity. I would like to be part of a dynamic team that oozes professionalism which is why I am writing to you.
I am a highly motivated individual who possesses the ability to handle multiple assignments at the same time by setting priorities and without compromising quality of work. Having said this, I am proficient in communicating with customers and fellow workers alike, scheduling conferences and meetings, providing administrative support to all departments and reviewing incoming requests for the best possible strategies. My ability to analyze operational and procedural problems and develop and implement resolutions is above parity as I strive hard to maintain a smooth flow of operations. I possess strong written and verbal communication skills which assist me in managing and maintaining liaison with both internal and external parties.
I am looking forward to meeting you in person so that we can discuss the prospect of my joining your company at this post. Please feel free to email or call me if you need information other than what my resume (attached) holds and I will be happy to provide it.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Resume is enclosed in MS Word format (Julie-Resume.doc)
