School Administrator Cover Letter Example

Updated on: August 26, 2019

Writing an original, targeted cover letter for a school administrator position will take your application places.

You need to state why you want to work for a particular school in the first paragraph (and possibly where you learned about the vacancy) and show that your career goals are actually aligned with the school and its vision.

One thing you should not do is ramble about your experiences.

Your resume is enough to let a prospective employer know how much experienced you are.

Also, explaining what your employer can do for you as opposed to what you can do for your employer is a sure way to send your application to an early death!

As you end your cover letter, do not encourage a potential employer to contact you – rather, mention that you will be contacting him or her in a few days.

Since the job of a school administrator is exceptionally challenging, you will need to make sure that you tailor your cover letter appropriately.

The main body of your cover letter should be focused on connection building. Here, you will need to talk about your accomplishments and how you intend to use them for the school’s benefit.

You can take ideas from the following cover letter sample for a school administrator resume:

Ms. Jenna Collins
Principal
Bloomsberg High School
1939 Conway Street
North Las Vegas, NV 71836

Dear Mrs. Collins:

This letter and the attached resume is a keen expression of interest in the School Administrator position at Bloomsberg High School.

As the website of Bloomsberg High School challenged, “It is one thing to talk about administrating a school, and quite another to get out there and “administered”, I comprehend the challenges academic institutes face in these days of competition. Not one to boast, but here I am to help your school in facing these challenges and coming out shining!

My resume reveals the nitty-gritty details of my school administration career, but, let me present them to you here in a concise manner. For the past ten years, I have served as a School Administrator at Mount Baten High School, where I was mostly responsible for developing and implementing academic programs. Being at the right place at the right time, I was responsible for implementing the International Baccalaureate (IB) program in both PYP (Primary Years Program) and MYP (Middle Years Program) and have gained considerable success with the first two batches (the third one is in process) that have passes out of the high school IB program. I understand that Bloomsberg High School is an IB candidate school, and here is where I can help you.

As an administrator, my accomplishments are many – from introducing co-curricular activities to organizing alumni programs; I have in-depth knowledge of handling them all. The breadth of my experience covers academics, marketing, finances, personnel, and data management in sync with school directives – I would like to put these skills and experiences on the table.

I’d welcome the opportunity to discuss your needs and how my capabilities can meet them in a School Administrator role. I will follow up with you next week. In the interim, please call me at (888) 888-8888 if you need any further information.

Best Regards,
