Sample First Email to Coworkers after Joining

Updated on: June 16, 2020

You can ease the jitters of meeting new people by formally introducing yourself as the newest member of their team. The first email to coworkers will work wonderfully in this situation.

On your first day at your new job, ask your supervisor for the email addresses of all the people you will be working with.

Afterward, draft a nice, pleasant email, introducing yourself as their new coworker. You may give a little background of your professional life so that your coworkers can get a heads up on the kind of person they will be dealing with.

Using a little bit of humor to break the ice works wonders but be careful that you don’t overdo it.

People like to work with others who have a good sense of humor, but no one wants a jester at their workplace – it does not add to the professionalism of the work environment. A little subtlety in displaying your sense of humor is required here.

Enough advice – let us give you an example of what the first email to coworkers after joining a new company looks like:

To: The All Team ABC Company

Subject: Greetings from your New Coworker

Dear Team ABC Company:

I would like to take your few moments to introduce myself as the newest member of the editorial team at ABC Company. It is with utmost happiness that I joined the ABC Company. Working for this organization is a dream come true. As this is my first working day, therefore, I would love to meet with all of you in person soon. I expect that Mr. Ben Evans will arrange a meeting between us later in the day.

As a former editor at AA Readings, I have acquired great insight into the work. I feel confident that I will be able to add to these accomplishments now that I am part of the team too. It would be an absolute pleasure if we could all have lunch together so that I can introduce myself in person – unless of course, Mr. Evans decides to do the deed first!

Thank you for accepting me as a part of your team. I look forward to getting to know each one of you personally and work along the professional lines.

Sincerely,

Helen Green
Editor
