Email Resignation Letter with Immediate Effect

Updated on: April 1, 2022

A resignation is the last impression an employee leaves on his employer, so it has to be a good one.

Since employees do not always resign for a pleasant reason, leaving a good impression may not be the easiest thing to do.

However, we must strive to do this if we want to obtain a reference letter from our employer and stay in his good books for a future liaison.

Resigning through email is considered the most convenient and reliable approach. Emails are easy to send especially if you want to resign from your position with immediate effect.

A resignation email will detail your reason for leaving and how you intend to hand over your work since you may not be coming in to work the next day.

A bad exit strategy will have a negative impact on your employer – something that you do not really want to do. So you need to be cautious when writing a resignation email.

Make sure that your reason is valid enough to warrant an immediate resignation; once you begin writing, choose your words carefully.

Email Resignation Letter with Immediate Effect

Subject: Resignation with Immediate Effect

Dear Ms. Hamilton:

Please consider this email as my formal resignation from the position of Sales Manager for Global Foundries, effective immediately. I understand that an immediate resignation will require me to forgo one month’s salary and I am alright with this arrangement. I have accepted a new position with Wells Fargo in Ohio, and I need to move immediately to start their latest project.

I have obtained vast knowledge and expertise over the years I spent at Global Foundries. I am genuinely grateful to you for giving me the chance to learn and grow as a sales professional. I attribute all my accomplishments to the opportunities that I have been provided. As a mentor, you developed me exceptionally, and I will always be grateful for that.

I understand that this immediate resignation might pose problems for Global Foundries which is why I am offering to hand over the work to whomever you choose to take my place through the telephone or emails. For the next two weeks, I deem it my duty to make sure that your work is not affected. Please let me know if this arrangement is feasible for you.

I would like to thank you once again for providing me with immense support over the years. I wish you and Global Foundries staff all the best for the future.

Sincerely,

Ian Loner
