Letter of Recommendation for Employee of the Month

Updated on: November 17, 2021

Up until now, you must have only heard about recommendation letters that flow between the previous employer and a new or prospective employer. That is the norm usually.

However, recommendation letters can be written in any circumstances where a person of authority wants to provide a reference to someone.

One of these instances is when a manager or supervisor would like to recommend a team member for the employee of the month title.

This type of recommendation letter does not have a to whom it may concern header.

It is addressed to a particular person within the company who has the authority to decide who will be given the award.

And who decides this, actually depends on the company and organizational structure that it follows.

A letter of recommendation for the employee of the month title will need to include the person’s name (of course) and title and of course the various reasons why he or she should be considered for this honor.

The letter should be precise and to the point. Make sure that you write believable things and not venture into the world of exaggeration. You may want to have a look at the following sample letter of recommendation:

Dear Mr. Nelson:

I am writing to recommend Jill Jenson to be selected as the ‘Employee of the Month’ for December 2021, who joined us as a sales representative less than a year ago. Since her joining, the company has seen a sudden and constant rise in sales, and as I go through the various reports presented to me, I see that most of the new customers that Crossmark now enjoys business from, are the ones assigned to Jill.

Sales reports are not the only significant tell-all of Jill’s performance. During the last three months, I have come across at least 7 customers who were satisfied enough to provide feedback on her way of dealing with them and the subsequent effect on their accounts. Her greatest talents are in convincing prospects who are not entirely convinced of our services. Having seen first-hand Jill’s resounding abilities in developing and retaining business, I believe that she is worthy of the title of employee of the month.

I am enclosing this year’s sales reports and printouts of customer feedback with this letter of recommendation. Please feel free to contact me for any further information that you may need about Jill’s professional abilities and eligibility for this title.

Thank you,

Sincere regards,

(Signature)
