Package handlers work in courier companies where they are responsible for picking, packing and sealing letters and merchandise into packages. They need to be able to understand the sensitivity of the product that they are packing so that they can manage the packing process in a safe manner. They use a variety of hand and power tools to pack cartons and crates and are expected to physically load the packages in a safe manner.
Cover Letter Guidelines
Package handlers need to highlight their physical skills, more than anything else, when writing a cover letter. Since this job is mostly about physical dexterity, you will have to ensure that a recruiter is provided with enough information on your agility to be able to decide on hiring you.
If physical capability is your strong point, the position of a package handler may be just right for you. The following cover letter sample will help you apply for a job as a package handler.

Dear Mr. Anderson:
I am interested in working for UPS as a Package Handler. The reason behind my motive to working as a Package Handler for UPS is simple; I like doing physical work as it provides me with a sense of achievement that a desk job can never do.
I am an expert at “hand to surface” methods of package handling. Through 7 years’ extensive experience in package handling, I developed expertise in packing products in cartons and crates while determining which type of product goes into a carton and which one goes into a crate. Moreover, I am well-versed in using different tools and sealants to aide me in my work. Working with conveyor belts by scanning packages and verifying numbers is something I am very comfortable with. My physical agility knows no bounds – I can lift over 50 lbs at a time and willing to work overtime.
The prospect of working with UPS excites me immensely as I look forward to meeting the challenges that it will provide me on a constant basis. I am certain that my resume will give you with enough insight into my abilities to warrant an interview soon.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
