Category Manager Cover Letter Sample

Updated on: August 24, 2022

Cover letters are basically direct requests for jobs – written in an indirect way.

Writing a cover letter requires a little more than mediocre writing skills.

If you feel that your writing skills aren’t too good, don’t be shy in asking for help.

While online cover letter samples may help you out a little, you cannot directly copy the essence of any sample – cover letter essence is something that you have to create yourself.

Using your common sense is something that you will be doing a lot when writing a cover letter.

Remember that a cover letter may get you to the interview level but it won’t get you the job.

So don’t aim at getting the job through a cover letter. Instead, the target gets to the interview stage and then you can take it on from there.

Showing that you are a proactive individual who is willing to learn and grow with the company is a great way of going about writing an effective cover letter.

Mr. Graham Tell
Human Resource Manager
Onyx Enterprises
73 East Avenue
Augusta, GA 62021

Dear Mr. Tell:

I was both humbled and proud to find out that your requirements for a category manager at Onyx Enterprises are a direct match to what I have to offer in this role. After reading up extensively on the company and the product ranges that it offers, I think we may be onto something here with this liaison.

My background includes over 10 years of experience in retail, the last 3 of which I have been working in category management. My strengths in building effective relationships with vendors and suppliers, along with a solid ability to determine market trends in accordance with assigned product categories, are perhaps what has brought me this far.

My standout qualifications as a category manager include demonstrated ability to create and implement pricing, promotion, assortment, and shelf schematics for each assigned category, a deep comprehension of creating yearly business plans and budgets based on departmental initiatives, and a sound background in designing schematics and recommending adjacencies that support the role of each assigned category.

The attached resume offers additional details regarding my suitability for a category manager job at your organization. I would be happy to provide you with further details in a face-to-face meeting. I will call you next week to inquire about your availability.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Casandra William
