Position Overview

Support workers work in a variety of capacities and their main job is to assist people with care plans, social integration and community assimilation. They assist individuals and/or groups to establish support networks by teaching and acting as role models. In a clinical setting, a support worker may be expected to monitor patients’ behavior and provide feedback to healthcare professionals.

Support Workers and Caregivers perform some or all of the following duties:

● Administer bedside and private care to clients; ambulation, bathing, personal cleanliness, and dressing and undressing

● Perform housekeeping duties such as laundry, washing dishes and making beds

● Care for individuals and families during incapacitation, convalescence or relations disruption

● Plan and arrange meals and special diets, and feed or assist in feeding clients

● Demonstrate infant care to new parents

This job requires relevant skills and expertise – although some training is important. People who have a high school diploma and some experience working in community services may apply for this position.
