Carpentry Skills List for Resume [11 Statements]

Updated on: February 12, 2022

Resumes for carpentry jobs seem incomplete if there isn’t a dedicated skills section in them.

That is why employers insist on knowing what a candidate’s skills are before hiring them.

It is important not to undermine the importance of the carpenter skills section in a resume. Experience is all very well, but without skills, the experience cannot be gained.

Often, when we write our resumes, we end up generalizing our skills.

It is important not to generalize your skills as they seem bland.

Substantiating your skills is imperative if you want to impress the reader. An example of a generalized skill is:

WRONG
Skilled in performing carpentry work.

If you’re going to substantiate this sentence, you can write it this way:

RIGHT
Skilled in both woodworking and cabinet-making.

The latter phrase provides more information than the former one, which just states “I am a carpenter.” Skills are not to be taken non-seriously.

It is through skills that an employer will find out if you are as capable as you make yourself out to be.

One thing that you have to keep in mind is that your skills should be specific to the carpentry job.

Mentioning that you have excellent writing skills when your target is a carpentry job is not going to gel well with the employer. After all, what does carpentry have to do with writing?

So now that we have comprehended how to write skills on a resume, let us move on to actual examples of carpentry skills:
